I keep my keys for home hooked to my treat poutch for my dog and hang it up on a hook i stuck on the light switch just inside my door. I have an over the door hook for christmas wreefs on my closet door for her harness and leash. I take my shoes off by the door. I have my work keys in my work bag with my mac book air and any money and such I might bring home for buying things for work reasons.

I take my close off in the same spot, just inside my closet or bathroom. I then put them in the dirty close basket if not right away, the next morning.

The night before I go to work, I make sure my things are together and ready for when I wake up, this is so I don't get to work without my door pass, and keys to my business. I need both to get to work.

I am very organized and just give everything a home and keep it there when not using it.

I pin my socks together because they are different colors and designs so I don't loose them either...

My mail goes in my computer drawr because my binder I used to store things in it is in storage. LOL...

Any other things?

Okay, let's see...

I always toss my keys in the same place...right on my nightstand. I'm currently only living in a single room of a house, though, so my organization is limited to one room...it's spacious enough, but still one room. But then, the one thing I have almost never lost is keys.
When I'm done with dirty clothes, they either get tossed at the foot of my bed or they go in the laundry basket, depending on how tired I am. I used to be worse for this, and would let clothes on the floor sit for a bit, but even nowadays I usually grab outstanding items and put 'em in the right spot in the morning or, if I'm running late, when I get home.
I hang my ties up on the bar in my closet, along with my belts. I don't have occasion to wear either very much at this point, so it's not really an issue.
I'm about 90% sure that all of my socks are the same colour, so it doesn't matter if I mix them. In any case though, there are two different styles of socks, and as long as I don't get one style crossed with the other (and I don't), I'm good. When putting laundry away, I hold my socks by their tops, open the mouth of one sock and sort of roll the other sock inside the open one. The result is a nicely-clustered set of socks, with almost no effort; I do it so fast that it's second nature now.

If you're having trouble with stuff, you're really going to have to try and remember to put things in the same place. I don't know your living situation, but perhaps a hook on the wall inside the door or a small hall table for keys and mail and such would be good for you? I'm not entirely sure.

We got a mail/key hanger thingie that sits just inside our front door. My spare house key sits on it (for now), but usually stays in my fanny pack for when I go to the gym.
Shoes go in the same place by the door... hubby has a shelf (though he usually puts them on my shoes...), I have a shelf, and boots have a shelf.

Disorganization is not insurmountable... it takes little changes and doing them over and over again. Even though it may seem like it, current habits were not formed naturally; you did the same thing over and over because it worked at the time. But obviously it is not working at this point, and can be changed by doing different things over and over again.
Let me know if I can help further.

Love an organized woman, so post 2 is on the mark.
Now, I don't have different socks, because I'm like poster 3 in that respect, so can roll mine up in that same fashion.
I hate mess! so things have a place, a reason, and a purpose, even me, so if they don't fall in to these nitches I get rid of them or give them away.
Okay, I'll probably start a fight, but guys have less stuff, so that is why I say I love an organized woman.
When you visit her house, or have her visit your house, and she's messy you have a great visit, but have to forget that things have a purpose except her, of course, her.
So when stepping over her 65 paris of shoes, 90 shades of fingernail polish, makeup kits, lingerie, clothes, scents, hair decorations, old mail, magazines, she probably doesn't even know she reads, lost celphone charges, because when she loses them, she just buys another instead of looking on the floor, well you understand. It simply take to long to organize it all, so faster to get rid of it right? Most of it she'll have forgotten she had anyway, so won't miss it, except maybe you when you leave her house, but...

LOL. I don't have that much stuff. I hate having that much stuff, it feels suffacating. If I can't find something, which is rare, I look until I find it. I use to have a lot of things but I move here to North Carolina and could only bring a suit case full of things and found I loved having as little as possible. I start to get stressed when my place is messy or I have to much stuff.

I also only have three pares of shoes. One are sandles I wear to take my dog out in because they slip right on. One are my shoes I wear offten and the last pare were going to be my work shoes but they are a half size to big and I like my favorite ones anyways, so they are my back up shoes. LOL.

Shoes need to have a shoe tree. Especially if they are nice shoes. All my leather shoes go on a shoe tree. My regular ones that I wear every day, usually converse or vans, those just go in my closet in a little space beside the door. I use three hampers for my laundry. I put jeans in one, shirts in another, and socks in the last one. Makes it so much easier to do laundry. Ties should be hung up, especially if they are silk. Never leave them knotted because it crushes them and makes them look rumpled and trashy. Learn to tie your ties each time and it gets a lot easier, I taught myself, its not difficult.
Mail I put in envelope holders that I got at office max or some place like that for a couple bucks, nothing to it. Keys I have on a hook by my door. Belts, shoulder bag, umbrella, those all have a set of four hooks I hang them on in my cloet. I'd put hats there too, but I don't wear hats.
I use zip ties to keep my cords curled up and out of the way so they don't get stepped on or annoy me. I organize colognes and such by bottle and height. Did I miss anything you'd like to hear about?

I use one of those seven-day pill organizers and refill it as needed from the original bottle. Both are kept on my dresser. This helps me keep track of when I take my medication each day. Does anyone have any feedback regarding multiple prescription bottles and their organization? Great topic.

good suggestions given and i'm pretty organised and I don't like having things on my floor as I know I will easily trip on them so every thing has its place, I keep all my medications in a box that is used for my bedside table and the ones I take are in a trinket box on my desk.
My mail is kept in a folder and keys are hooked to some keyrings so I can't lose it and I always make sure I have them in my shoulder bag and I always double check things like when going out so that I know I have every thing and then i'm reassured I have what I need and this came second nature to me.

I'm not the most organized person either, but the things I use a lot or every day have their places. My dog's harness, leash and my purse all go in the same place so I have them when I go out. Same with my coat when I need one. Shoes go inside the door so I can putthem on just before I leave... I hate shoes. lol.
I try to put my hair brush in the samp place, but that always gets moved. I hang dress clothes on one side of my closet and jeans on another. T-shirts go in my dresser alongwith sweats. Socks go in a drawer and I also pin them together. I use safety pins. Does anybody have a better way of doing this? My socks seem to get caught in the safety pin every so often lol.

Post 12 by Meglet (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 08-Sep-2013 14:34:25

I roll my socks together when I sort them so that they stay organized and I don't have to spend ten minutes every day figuring out which socks go with which. No safety pins, no hastle.

Hello,
I have a hook in my hall closet by the front door where leashes and harnesses go. Mail and keys go somewhere next door to that closet in a thing on the wall. My purse usually lands on the kitchen/bar counter. All my work pants and shirts I keep separate in a laundry bag and specifi by dark bottoms and light nice tops so I don't have the what goes with what problem. My shoes I keep on the foot of my closet and have all my life. CD's, Dvd's, and other things I keep in alphabetical order because I am very detail oriented. Hope this helps.

I don't role my socks because it will stretch them out, I safty pen them. I have a hook on my coat closet door when you walk in and I put my harness and leash on it. i have a spot next to my bedroom door for my work bag. I take my shoes off to the left and just inside of my closet. I lay out about four outfits at a time and have them hanging up in my closet for a few days worth.
It is just about sitting down and writting out a routine then using it to remind you what to do until it becomes a habbit. If you wish that is. but it helps a lot....

Yup, I agree about not rolling the socks-the one you roll over the other one is always a bit stretched out so I use safety pins.
Yes, they do occaisionally get caught in the knit of the sock which is very annoying. Two things you can do to prevent this-if the safety pins are the older, real metal (steel?) ones, you can take pliers and crimp the end so that it can't slide around the loop de loop of the pin. I don't think this will work with the metal alloy safety pins. (They feel more like plastic than metal to the touch.)
Also, you can take a small bead and place it on the pin before you use the pin to attach the sock together. If you really want to go out of your way (I've never done this), you could use superglue to make sure the bead never slides off. With my luck, I'd probably superglue my fingers to the pin!

Hmm, that actually surprises me; I've never noticed any stretching in the one sock. You'd think that your foot, being much much bigger than any sock and creating far more tension, would stretch socks a lot more than simply rolling them together. And I don't really think I'd suffer much if one sock was a bit more stretched than the other. But whatever works for ya.

Personally, I've always rolled my socks and never noticed one sock getting stretched any more than the other. If nothing else, you're fifty percent likely to stretch the second sock on the next rolling instead of the first, so the stretching, theoretically, will be spread fairly evenly. My socks last me a good while, but perhaps it's in the kind of socks you favour? I dunno.

I also have ancle socks so if one is stretched, I don't think I could ware them well. I have seen socks that was very stretched out from rolling but I just pin them. You can buy those square matchers that you just shove them threw and it holds them together. I use to have them when I was little but never used them. I use to just fold them in half together but I am also a bit on the odd side and I do fold my panties because i can't stand putting them on all rinkled. It feels different to me when they are smoothed from folding. When I fold them up, they feel a lot like brand new. I do put away my close as soon as I get them out of the drier so they don't have a chance to set in any wrinkles.
So my underware and also my JP drawers are very neat. I hang up everything else.
